Exposed Surface Cladding
In a World that is increasingly concerned with climate change issues; using Electric Vehicles (EVs)is the latest avenue to claim one is being environmentally friendly. Is using an Electric Car for transportation really an activity that has positive impact on the climate? Or is it just shifting the negative impact on climate elsewhere?
Only about 20% of electricity in the World’s largest global economies is generated from renewable resources. 70% of power in India and China is generated from fossil energy, 47% of power in Europe is generated from petroleum products and solid fossil fuels, and most of the US power was generated by natural gas, nuclear energy of coal in 2020 with only 20% from renewable sources.
Charging EVs using the Grid whether at the Office or at Home is shifting pollution generation from running a car to pollution from power plants that use fossil fuel sources of generation.
The argument that the power we buy has a clean and green component is fallacious. We are just increasing the overall demand for electricity from power plants that burn fossil fuels.!
The use of covered car parks, car ports, rooftops either in residential or offices properties to generate Solar Power for charging EVs is the only honest solution. An integrated solution by Solon ensures that when power is not being used to charge the EVs it is used at home or at the office to reduce the consumption of power from predominantly fossil sources..
There are many opportunities to use spaces such as Walk-ways, parking lots, sidewalks, etc., to generate Solar Energy which will reduce the increased consumption of conventional power and make a true impact on reducing harmful impact on the climate.
