We, the Founders, and current management of what is now Solon began the journey in the Renewable Energy space in 1986 at which time we were the first private sector entrant in the solar industry in India.
The journey over the last three and half decade’s chronicles our contribution to the growth of technology and maturing of the solar Industry in India and globally.
Starting as a PV systems integrator our team developed indigenous technology (Laminators, flash testing etc) for the manufacture and testing of small and large PV modules in India and innovation of products (Solar Lanterns, Solar Water Pumping Systems) and other devices to respond to a growing market demand and to explore new market opportunities. By the mid 90’s operations expanded into the development of equipment for the manufacture of solar cells, and mono and poly crystalline cell production. Once again, we were the first integrated private sector solar cell and module manufacturer.
Continuing this innovative journey, our team began to export solar cells to the emerging German and other European markets and was responsible for the first 156x156mm (6 inch square) solar cell production.
In 2012 through an acquisition of an international company to leap frog our journey of innovations to the forefront of the business we obtained technology and know-how insights into design and establishment of high-quality solar power plants, trackers, car ports and other innovations.
Today our company has yet again adjusted to market demand and supply where our decades of growth and innovation, positions us to deliver State-of-the-Art PV power plants, mini/micro and off-grid solutions and sustainable service support mechanisms.
We have recently also added to our portfolio, through our innovative capacity and experience, a new product range offering turnkey clean energy and environmental solutions to the under-served populations of our planet.
Our Team also has extensive experience stretching over four decades in design and development of batteries of various electro-chemistries, properties and performance attributes. The team has also built solar PV plants with 10MW hours storage in Africa.
The timelines below give a bird’s eye view of this journey.
