Building Partnerships for Humanitarian Innovation 

SOLON’s participation in the four-day UNOCHA/DIHAD programme in Dubai provided considerably more than conventional business-development contacts. The conference validated an emerging opportunity for SOLON to develop its Ultra and Rapid energy platforms into specialised humanitarian turnkey solutions addressing water, healthcare, food security, livelihoods, sanitation, shelter and security. 

Discussions with humanitarian and development organisations provided valuable insight into field requirements and highlighted opportunities for SOLON to design solutions around real operational needs. At the same time, engagement with technology providers opened possibilities for product integration, joint development and the creation of more specialised, rapidly deployable solutions for humanitarian applications. 

SOLON also established useful relationships with specialist logistics providers experienced in operating in difficult and hard-to-access markets. In parallel, discussions around alternative financing approaches highlighted potential new routes for financing humanitarian and infrastructure projects. 

An important additional outcome was the recognition that SOLON’s Local Partner network can evolve beyond subcontracting toward a broader model incorporating capacity building, local skills development and community resilience. 

Overall, DIHAD reinforced a strategic direction in which SOLON combines renewable-energy engineering, humanitarian field knowledge, local implementation capacity, specialist partnerships and innovative financing to create deployable, sustainable end-use solutions with long-term impact.
